Week 6

Week 6

This week I was asked to update the credentials for the upcoming 2015-16 Athletic seasons. These credentials are made for anyone working the game to wear around their neck to get them in and out of the stadium without any problems with security.

I was asked to follow and use a specific template with exact information that needed to be included within these credentials. Some of this information included color coding specific areas of the stadium where that person is allowed to be in.

This is what I created...

Week 5

Week 5

During my fifth week of my internship I was asked to make a brochure advertising the Men's Soccer season tickets that were going on sale. I was given specific dimensions to follow along with special requirements of what the sale included that needed to be advertised.

This is what I came up with....

Week 4

Week 4

During my fourth week at my internship I helped another intern work on the University Golf outing. Katie and I were asked to come up with a UAlbany Athletics statistic, picture, and design to post at each hole.

We searched for the information online and once we found the statistic we paired it with a picture of the team or athlete who's stat it was that we were posting. We searched 18 facts for 18 holes. Throughout this process we found it difficult to find the statistics that matched the number of the hole. Once we found the statistics we made a generic design so the sign and fact would be recognizable, but still different by the number of hole, stat, and picture.

Week 3

Week 3

During the third week I was asked to make templates for the big screen. These templates will be shown during athletic events to engage the crowd. The layout for these templates is to be like a border because within the border a video of the crowd will be showing. I researched how professional sports stadiums do the templates and what kind of design is easy for the video to fit in, but also looks appealing on the big screen.

The three templates I created were:

-Kiss Cam
-Flex Cam
-Dance Cam

The templates are meant to be simplistic but still fun. Where the green shows is where the video will show on the screen. While working on these templates I tried to keep the borders minimal so it would not take away from the video, but still help the crowd identify what we are looking for.

Week 2

Week 2

The third week of my internship was solely focused on an event called the Commissioners Cup.
The Commissioners Cup is a golf outing the university athletic department puts on at the local golf course. I was asked to create a sign the teams who enter in the Commissioners Cup can take their picture with while holding the actual Cup.

Items I was asked to incorporate within the sign include:
- The Albany Logo
- Several Pictures of our Athletes
- #HOMEOFCHAMPIONS

While making the sign there was an abundance of action photos from the past athletic seasons. As I was going through these photos I decided to pick images of not only our athletes in action, but also images of "champions". The teams I chose to feature on the sign were those who won their conference championships during the 2014-2015 seasons. I decided to blend the logo and photos with each other and lower the opacity to make the hashtag more prominent because our goal is to push that saying in the upcoming seasons.

Week 1

Week 1

The first week of my internship turned out to be everything I wanted it to be. I was able to tour the grounds such as the stadium, control room, conference rooms, and office. I was introduced to several different processes the media department goes through to prepare for the upcoming athletic seasons.

The game day process stood out most to me because being an athlete I know what game day means for me, but I never even thought about what it means to others especially the media department here on campus. The process begins with preparing the opposing teams logos and videos to project on to the big screen during games. After preparing whats going on the screen the next step is getting it up there and running through everything to make sure there are no problems. The run through is an extremely important part of the process because its the final step before game time.

After the run through of the grounds and game day routines I was put to work. Below or stat templates for all the upcoming home football games for the 2015 season. These templates are projected on the big screen throughout the game. On these templates I had to change the opposing team helmets, size, and gradient backgrounds that match opposing team colors.
